The Polk County School Board has approved new attendance boundaries for our high schools. We want to ensure that all families with current high school students, as well as those with rising freshmen for the next school year, are aware of this important update.
These new boundaries will take effect for the 2026–27 school year. PCPS is implementing these changes thoughtfully and with great care to minimize disruption for our families.
Students who are currently enrolled in a PCPS high school will not be required to move to a different campus if the changes adopted by the board alter their zoned school. Regardless of any changes, students may remain at the high school they currently attend where they have already begun their academic career, and PCPS will continue providing bus transportation for eligible students.
Most boundary adjustments are minimal, and the majority of families will not notice any change to their zoned high school. Families who are affected by a boundary change will receive a direct notification by email and letter/notice from their students school. To ensure you receive timely updates, please check with your child’s school and verify that your email address is current.
While current high school students may stay at their existing school, parents and guardians may choose to transfer their student(s) to their newly zoned high school if they prefer. Families who are impacted will receive instructions on how to opt in to the new zoned school.
Parents can also verify their zoned high school at any time by visiting polkschoolsfl.com/schoolzones and clicking “Upcoming GeoZone for School Year 2026-2027” and entering their home address.
Rising freshmen will be enrolled at their zoned school. There will be no sibling priority afforded to incoming freshmen (9th grade students). If a student wishes to attend any school other than their zoned high school, families will need to submit an application for one of the district’s high school choice schools and/or career academies. Information outlining this process can be found online at polkschoolsfl.com/magnetchoice or polkschoolsfl.com/careeracademies.
We appreciate your patience and support as we take this important step to balance enrollment across our campuses, and ensure all students have access to a high quality education.
