PCPS Benefits

Polk County Public Schools is proud to offer an affordable, comprehensive benefits program designed to support the needs of you and your family.

We provide group health, dental, vision, and flexible spending account (FSA) options to all benefits-eligible employees.

This page offers detailed information about available benefits and guidance on how to make changes to your insurance coverage.

Newly Hired Employees

New hires have 60 days from their hire date to enroll in benefits. Coverage becomes effective on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.

If you do not complete enrollment within this timeframe, you will be automatically enrolled in the Board-funded insurance benefits. You will forfeit the opportunity to select optional benefits until the next Open Enrollment period.

Changing Your Benefits Elections

After new hire enrollment window closes, you may only make changes to your benefit elections outside of Open Enrollment if you experience a qualified life event.

To be eligible for changes, you must:

  • Log in to Benefitplace and request the change within 31 days of the event.
  • Upload all required documentation to Benefitplace within 31 days of your initial enrollment date.

 

Examples of qualified life events include:

  • Marriage or divorce
  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • Loss or gain of other coverage
  • A dependent child losing eligibility
  • Becoming eligible for Medicare
  • Leave of Absence (must be approved)

Employee Assistance Program

Resources for Living is an employee assistance program, available at no cost to PCPS employees and all members of their household. Children living away from home can access services up to age 26. Enrollment in PCPS’ Health Plan is not required to use services. Services include emotional wellbeing support, chat therapy, daily life assistance, legal and financial services. Services are confidential and available 24/7.

This file includes negotiated rates for all covered items and services under the health plan and participating in-network providers. Please note: this file is not intended for consumer use.
