Last week the Polk County School Board recognized a stellar group of students from Kathleen High’s Central Florida Aerospace Academy.
The CFAA team was announced as a winner of NASA’s TechRise Student Challenge for 2024-25. There were just 60 winners nationwide, and CFAA was the only team from Florida.
The competition invites middle and high school students to design an experiment with guidance from an educator. Teams submit ideas for experiments to fly on a NASA-sponsored commercial flight test.
The CFAA students used CAD software to design and test 3D-printed materials to withstand high levels of radiation, and their experiment will head into the stratosphere on a NASA weather balloon.
Congratulations to this incredible CFAA crew: Mason Cessna, Camille Foreman, Preston Hopper, Joshua Johnson, Olivia Patton, Camden Wolcott, and instructor Joel Bresler.
