Five PCPS Educators Complete High Impact Teacher Corps
Posted on 06/04/2025
We are proud to celebrate five PCPS educators who were part of the state’s High Impact Teacher Corps (HITC) this year.

The HITC program, administered through the Florida Department of Education, is a yearlong professional development opportunity for teachers who have excelled at improving outcomes for their students and schools.

HITC members take part in intensive learning sessions and work with facilitators to boost their own skills, with the goal of returning to their schools and sharing their knowledge with fellow educators.

HITC program facilitator Dr. Christie Bassett says participants are “some of the best teachers in Florida.” Bassett herself is a former PCPS Teacher of the Year, and was the 2015 Florida Teacher of the Year.

“The Polk County teachers selected to participate in Florida’s High Impact Teacher Corps are dynamic educators whose focus on student learning has resulted in outstanding academic outcomes. Through this program, they have dedicated time outside their instructional responsibilities to grow their practice, positively support their colleagues through peer coaching, and expand their impact,” Bassett said. “Their commitment to Polk County’s students, teachers, and culture of learning is inspirational. It was an honor to work with them this school year.”

Congratulations to our teachers who completed the HITC program this year:
