Haines City High’s Madhu Thomas has been named STEM Teacher the Year!
The honor was presented by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in Central Florida, and includes a $1,500 prize.
Thomas has worked at HCHS since 2011, where she teaches AP and IB chemistry. Administrators say she has been an outstanding educator, mentor and role model.
“Mrs. Thomas has gone above and beyond,” said Crystal Young, who heads the IB program at HCHS. “Her innovative teaching methods, coupled with her nurturing approach, create an environment where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their fullest potential.”
Thomas said she has been proud to see her students thrive in class, and go on to compete in science fairs at the state and national level.
“Inspiring a love for science in my students has remained my paramount objective, making teaching the most fulfilling decision of my life,” she said.
