We’re delighted to celebrate a trio of very “bright” students!

Congratulations to PCPS’ Sunshine State Scholars for 2025: Gabriel Bourque from George Jenkins High, Owen Harrell from Fort Meade Middle-Senior High, and Jacob White from Auburndale High.

Every year, Florida’s school districts select their top high school juniors in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for the Sunshine State Scholars program. Each student, along with their parents, will be invited to travel to Orlando in April to meet with other Sunshine State Scholars, connect with employers in STEM fields, and learn about their higher education options in Florida.

“STEM knowledge is incredibly valuable in today’s world, and students who excel in these areas will have many opportunities in life,” said Jeff Hancock, PCPS’ senior director of K-12 science. “We’re proud to have Gabriel, Owen and Jacob represent PCPS for this prestigious statewide honor.”
